Deciduous shrub : Ht. 3-6' W 6-12'. 

Sandy loams to sandy clays. Full sun to part shade. White flowers in May/June followed by black, thimble shaped berries. Edible. Orange-red to maroon fall color. Bird magnet. Colonizer.
