Deciduous shrub : Ht. 6-12' W 6-12'. 

Prefers moist soils. Full sun to part shade. Found along stream banks, swamps and low wet ground. Fragrant, white pin-cushion shaped flowers in July. Fruit a strange fuzzy button.
